General

Any area where there is bleeding – hematoma (bruise), whiplash, severe varicose veins

Side effects of common medications
NSAID’s
non-steroidal anti-inflamatory drugs (asprin, ibuprofen)
- analgesic and anticoagulant properties
- client feedback may not be accurate, susceptible to bruising
- excess can cause GI disorders; ulcers, bleeding
- abdominal massage and hydrotherapy are contraindicated
Side effects of common medications
muscle relaxants & pain killers
- depress neural responses
- sensory feedback for muscular stretch and tension receptors may be compromised
- caution must be used with all stretching techniques
- constipation is a common side effect of pain killers
