Considered the most secure and commonly used. Used for autopsy, long surgical, and long-bone donor incisions. Stitch go from side to side.
Baseball suture
Suture begins at one end of the incision. Needle inserted through tissue and passes through both sides of the incision from the outside.
Lock suture
The continuous suture is generally used to close long incisions. Autopsy technicians use to prevents leakage from body cavities. Continuous suture.
Whip suture
Inversion suture is used to gather in and turn under excess tissues. Is not visible and may be waxed as needed.
Worm suture
Stitched use to close the colostomy

Surgical suture passed as a running stitch in and out along the edge of a circular wound. When the ends of the suture are drawn tight the wound is closed like a purse.
