Housing effects on people
Provides basic needs such as shelter, water, electricity, access to sanitation, improving well-being and overall health. It is also usually situated nearby certain amenities and communities within the neighbourhood.
How can housing be sustainably managed?
Integrated land-use planning as well as inclusive public housing. Environmental features such as zero-energy building design promotes sustainability of the building. Intergrated land use planning maximises the utility and value of spaces surrounding housing. Inclusive public housing refers to ensuring that housing developments can cater to people of all ages and physical conditions so as to provide a sense of ease in their hosuing estates.
Environmental features in buildings
Such as the use of solar panels to offset electrical consumption of common lighting, water efficient fittings to minimise water consumption and green roofs and walls to reduce surrounding temperatures all to ensure the long term sustainability of the cities. However, they may be expensive to install and may come off as inconvienient.
