Name two NON-RENEWABLE sources
- Coal
- Natural gas
What are the four key attributes a city needs to function?
- Water
- Sewage/ Waste system
- People
- Nature
Describe a method of transport Auckland has and how it is sustainable
ELECTRIC BUSSES: We know that this type of transport can already carry more than one family so it is already kind of sustainable, but making it electric saves fossil fuels which is a non-renewable source of energy
Explain TWO different renewable resources a city could use as a source of power
- SOLAR ENERGY: Harnessing and using the sun’s rays as a power source
- HYDROPOWER: Using the force of water to power turbines to make electricity
Describe how water is treated to become drinking water
They first collect the water in dams, then separate the big particles like leaves and fish. Next, separate the tiny particles from the water. Finally, using chlorine kills all the germs in the water
Write a PEEZL Paragraph
POINT: Auckland is being sustainable by using paper bags instead of plastic bags
POINT: Auckland is being sustainable by using paper bags instead of plastic bags.
EXPLAIN: Auckland is one step closer to becoming sustainable by using paper bags rather than plastic bags.
EVIDENCE: From around December 2023 the NZ government has declared that all plastic bags from stores be replaced by paper bags to be more sustainable
ZOOM: Plastic bags can be harmful to the environment because once in a landfill the wind might blow the plastic bags around and animals might eat it or get caught in it. This is also unsustainable because of how much waste it creates
LINK: Therefore, Auckland is getting rid of plastic bags and replacing them with paper ones
