What are the requirements for EPC Rules
required for all commercial buildings when newly built, sold or let for a term more than 6 months

What does MEES Stand for
Minimum energy efficiency standards 2015
What are the requirements under MEES
Minimum EPC rating of a E to let a building from 1st April 2018
What are the stage of implementation of MEES
New leases from 1st april 2018
All existing leases from 1st April 2023 for commercial and 2020 for residential.
What are some of the exceptions from MEES 2015
Building does not require an EPC Place of worship or listed building
Industrial units with low energy demand such as no heating or cooling
Tenancy less than 6 months with no security of tenure
Tenancy for more than 99 years
not feasible to improve the rating to an E or above after all improvements with a payback of 7 years.
