Protection
-hostile environment: danger of fire, smoke, rain, wind, unsafe structures, sun, wild animals
Location
-Activate ELT
-Attarct attention to rescuers using equipment
-Use rocks, stones or brightly coloured materials to create markers on ground
Water
-Small quantities and frequently
-rationing will have to be strictly enforced if necessary
-Only issue if in first 24 hours
Food
Any food items should be given in small quantities and frequently
What are the principles of survival?

Give information on survival on land
Once any fires have passed and at the integrity of the aircraft allows re-enter and remove any items of use. Detach slides/rafts good survival kits and shelter. Leave one slide attached in case re-entry is required
How will an aircraft signal ground signals have been read?
Hours during daylight- rocking it’s wings
Hours during night- Flashing its landing or navigating lights on and off
Give information on survival at sea
-Don’t eat any fish that is slimy, no scales, sunken eyes, flabby skin or u pleasant odour
-Spiny fish- brightly coloured, puffed up appearance- as may be poisonous to touch and eat
Give information jungle information
-Scatter brightly coloured items to create colour contrast e.g- seat covers, life jackets
-Small animals or plant life should be cooked and then tried in a small amount to test any adverse affects
-avoid brightly coloured plant, things with milky sap, any fungi
Desert survival
-Roads normally lead to water
-Fire ashes, animal droppings, any disturbed surfaces normally lead to water
