ordinary people are being monitored and treated as ‘suspects’
data is collected on peoples lives (google, apple, social media) like were living in a prison-like culture
so people in power can execute conformist behaviour
surveillance - evaluation of surveillance society
- found so frequently that people no longer aware of it
- some surveillance useful (monitoring hospital patents, reducing crime & improving safety, helps fight terrorism)
- these erases can also be an excuse to increase surveillance
