What complications can there be after surgery?
Pneumonia

Thrombus (blood clot)
Bleeding at site (not good!!)
What does the CNA do after surgery?
1) I & O
2) V.S.
3) Check dressings
4) Check voiding
5) ADLs
How do you know if a patient was given too much medication?
Confusion Drowsiness/sleeping Nausea/vomiting Decrease in R, P, and BP Not voiding
What is the most common sign of pain?
Restlessness-Fidgety
How can you tell someone is in pain?
Facial expressions Don't want to be touched Favor one side Guarding of a limb Irritable Tense Systolic BP increases Increase in P and R
How can the CNA make someone feel more comfortable if they have pain?
Reposition them Distract them Ask nurse to reassess patient Massage Gosceas
