Ramsay Hunt syndrome pathophysiology
caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus in the geniculate ganglion of the seventh cranial nerve.
Ramsay Hunt syndrome Mx
Full recovery is more likely if antiviral treatment is started within 72 hours of the onset of symptoms.
First-line treatment includes aciclovir 800 mg orally five times daily for 7 days + Prednisone 60 mg orally daily for 5 days.
What is TURP?
TURP syndrome is a life-threatening complication of transurethral resection of the prostate surgery.
It is caused by irrigation with large volumes of glycine, which is hypo-osmolar and is systemically absorbed when prostatic venous sinuses are opened up during prostate resection.
What is the IOP in glaucoma??
> 24mmHg
Mx of primary open glaucoma?
First line: prostaglandin analogue (PGA) eyedrop
Second line: beta-blocker, carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, or sympathomimetic eyedrop
