Surah Fatiha (The Opener)

Question 1

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem

Answer 1

In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

Question 2

ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

2. Alhamdu lillaahi Rabbil ‘aalameen

Answer 2

[All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds-

Question 3

ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

3. Ar-Rahmaanir-Raheem

Answer 3

the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,

Question 4

مَـٰلِكِ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ

4. Maaliki Yawmid-Deen

Answer 4

Master of the Day of Judgment.

Question 5

إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ

5. Iyyaaka na’budu wa lyyaaka nasta’een

Answer 5

It is You ˹alone˺ we worship and You ˹alone˺ we ask for help.

Question 6

ٱهْدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٲطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ

6. Ihdinas-Siraatal-Mustaqeem

Answer 6

Guide us along the Straight Path,

Question 7

صِرَٲطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ ٱلْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
7. Siraatal-lazeena an’amta ‘alaihim ghayril-maghdoobi ‘alaihim wa lad-daaalleen

Answer 7

The path of those who You have blessed, not (the path) of those who earned Your Anger, nor of those who are lost.
