Suprarenal (adrenal) gland Flashcards
Describe Capusle of Suprarenal gland
Thick & dense CT with Adipose tissue
cortex of suprarenal gland is divided into compratments by
Trabeculae
Reticular CT is stained ____with ___
brown with silver stain
Cortex of Suprarenal gland is divided into
- Zona Glomerulosa (arches)
- Zona Fasciculata (sticks)
- Zona reticularis (deepest)
Narrowest zone of suprarenal gland Cortex
Zona glomerulosa
Widest Zone of suprarenal gland cortex
Zona Fasiculata
Deepest Zone of suprarenal gland cortex
Zona Reticularis
Types of cells lining Zona glomerulosa
Columnar cells (arranged in arched groups/ glomeruli)
Types of cells lining Zona Fasciculata
Polyhedral cells arranged in Narrow straight cords ( fascicles)
Types of cells lining Zona Reticularis
Polyhedral (same as Fasciculata) cells arranged in branching and anasatomosing cords
cells of Zona glomerulosa are seperated by
fenestrated capillaries
Cells of Zona Fascicularis are seperated by
Fenestrated capillaries
cells of Zona Reticularis are seperated by
Blood sinusoids
LM of Zona glomerulosa
- Columnar cells
- Basal Rounded nuclei (fareed mn no3o f columnar)
- pale cytoplasm (may be acidophilic & may be basophilic)
LM of Zona Fasciculata
- Polyhedral cells
- Central rounded nuclei
- some are binucleated & Acidophilic Vaculated cytoplasm called Spongiocytes
LM of Zona reticularis
- Polyhedral cells
- central rounded nucleus
- Acidophilic cytoplasm
only cortical Zone where cells can have basophilic cytoplasm
Zona Glomerulosa
cells secreting Aldosterone (top one)
