Q

Suppression therapy tests

A

Can be done with mirrors (synoptophore and cheiroscopic tracings), physiological dipolia (brocks string ) or filters (R/G or polarized glasses)

17
Q

For deep suppression on cheiroscopic tracing it would be easier to have the patient

A

View the paper AND PENCIL by the more DEEPLY SUPPRESSED EYE. This will help breakdown that suppression

18
Q

For patients with mild suppression or central suppression only, tracing _____ is more effective than the fill in figure for deep suppressors

A

Small (central ) targets

19
Q

How to coach pt during cheiroscopic tracing?

A

Tap pencils,
Focus on keeping tip of pencil in view
Blink that eye
Wiggle fingers

20
Q

Goal of cheiroscopic tracing

A

To trace small, central figures WITHOUT suppression of EITHER EYE.

21
Q

What is the set up for anaglyphic drawings/tracings

A

Patient wears r/g glasses over the PREFERRED EYE. And the green lens over the NON PREFERRED EYE (suppressing eye..

22
Q

On anaglyphic drawings/tracings …the drawings are on white background.
The red eye (OD) is able to see the black print. T/f

A

True. The red eye can see black print but cant see any red crayons

23
Q

On anaglyphic tracings, the green eye sees the _____ & _____

A

Black AND red print

24
Q

Disappearance of red crayons on anaglyphic on white background indicates, suppression of the eye with green lens or with the red lens

A

Green.

25
Q

Why is it important to practice cover/uncover cues on intermittent straps?

A

It helps them recognize double vision cues, and awareness of bringing eye back in alignment.

26
Q

How can you make the monocular fixation in binocular field matching game more difficult?

A

By having patient hold plus / minus lens flipper. Minus on one eye and plus on other eye. As the pt is looking through the plexiglass targets from the white tiles they must accommodate to clear each one.

ITS NOW A BI-OCULAR accommodation test.

Goal can now be ability to match without suppression and to clear lens +2.50 -6.00
