A

Is to improve fixation and saccadic accuracy with visual feedback
If performed binoculaly, NO strabismus can be present !!
If performed monocular, strabismus can be present

A

Asking where is the image now?
To enhance steadiness fixation, pt is going to be asked to hold fixation there for 10secs’

GOAL : Fast and accurate placement of the after image on targets around room

A

Ask pt to turn head from right to left with the beat.

A

Pt stands 2-3 feet; therapists should pull ball back and release to allow it to swing to the left and right of the patient. pt follows ball with their eyes only and calls out letters and numbers.

A

Have them use a looping wand to keep the ball in the center of the loop.
Helps them to get some type of kinesthic feedback.

Can also use a pen or laser light.

A

Swing it at oblique angles
Have them hold a blunting dowl and hit the ball away from body as they are CALLING out the letters.
Have them on balance board.
Advanced pts can walk on a balance beam and call out the numbers/letters on ball.

a. if pt eyes drifts off target.ask

A

A. Where are your eyes pointing.
B., if patient is unaware the eyes are off target, you can cue them the do drift off target
C. Encouraged to keep letters on the ball clear at all times.
