What is the supply chain management (like a definition of it)?
Supply chain management (SCM) is the process of managing the flow of goods and services to and from a business, including every step involved in turning raw materials and components into final products and getting them to the ultimate customer.
What are the 3 main flows in the SCM?
- Materials
- Information
- Finance
What are possible internal and external supply chains?
Internal supply chain:
1. Procurement (sourcing and paying for goods)
2. Operation
3. Logistics
External Supply chain:
1. Suppliers
2. Customers
What is the SCOR-DS?
Graphically displays the balance of Supply and Demand in a horizontal infinity loop.
Describe the following supply chain strategies: order, source, transform and fulfill.
Order -> involve any data concerning customer purchase such as payment method, pricing, fulfillment status
Source -> involve all the steps of ordering, scheduling orders, delivery and transfer of products/services.
Transform -> describes the activities associated with scheduling and creation of products. This includes: production, assembly, disassembly etc.
Fulfill -> involves activities which aim to customer satisfaction such as shipping, packaging, installing, commissioning etc.
What governs all the strategies? Like what is in the middle of the SCOR-DS? And describe what it does?
The orchestrate is in the middle of the SCOR-DS and is associated with the integration and enablement of supply chain strategies. This includes:
- human resources
- data analytics
- risk mitigation
- regulations and compliances
- business rules and planning
- etc.
What is planning useful for in the SCOR-DS?
Planning is executed for the Order, Source, Transform, Fulfill and Return processes. This include determining requirements for product, resources and identifying gaps which must be corrected for the rest of the operations to work fluently.
