A majoritarian system

First and second preference when voting
If no candidate receives more than 50% of first preference
All, but top 2 candidates are eliminated
Their votes are transferred to second preference candidates

Candidates are eliminated one by one from the bottom, until one remaining candidate has the absolute majority

Voters have the benefit of a second preference
How can winners of SV have less than 50% of the vote?
Ballots of eliminated candidates will only be transferred if their second preference are for one of the two remaining candidates
