Advantages

A

over 50% = legitimacy
voters who use both votes for minor parties don’t influence the outcome
supporters of minor parties can express their views and vote tactically

A

wining candidate dont always have 50% if the second vote is not used effectively
the least unpopular candidate can win then the one with the most first preferences
