Heavy Rain / Hail Encounter?
Avoid rapid power adjustments if possible
Select continuous Ignition L/ R CONT IGN to ON
Select Auto-throttle to OFF
Maintain as high a power setting as possible
What do you do if FADEC Auto-Relight fails after encountering Heavy Rain or Hail?
To place the airplane in the start envelope:
Power Levers……….both to idle
Descend………………descend at 300K, not to exceed Mmo, to 25,000’
Continue descent…..to the Airstart envelope 25,000’ to SL
Land……nearest suitable airport
When can a microburst or Windshear occur?
Low level Windshear, microburst, or downburst may develop within an unstable air mass, during frontal passage and in the vicinity of a thunderstorm.
Severe microbursts can be 2 to 5 minutes in duration and 2 miles in diameter, and can have a down flow in the center as much as 6,000 to 7,000 feet per minute.
Amber Windshear annunciation on the primary flight display PFD?
This alert is caused by an increasing performance condition, increasing headwind / decreasing tail wind or updraft. Crew should be alert for pending decreasing performance, significant airspeed loss and the downdraft.
POWER LEVERS……forward for max rated thrust
PITCH…..takeoff or go around pitch should be maintained
AP / AT…….disengage
