Difference between lockout and conveyer securing?
Conveyer securing is a UPS program used by operational employees when breaking a jam, moving diverter, or walking on the belt.
Lockout is an OSCHA program used by PE technicians when cleaning, repairing, or removing a package from the motor housing.
What are the 8 rules of yard certification?
- Use designated pathways.
- Go through designated entries and exits.
- Stay within the confines of break areas.
- When working on the yard, bring orange cones.
- Obey traffic signs and wear seat belt.
- Take ignition key with you.
- Ensure lights work for 360 visibility.
- Wear a vest whenever in the yard.
Explain conveyer securing and guard inspection.
Guard inspections are conducted twice daily. One pre-trip and one post-trip. Checking that all components are operational. The guard locks and closes. Defects are annotated on the DECR.
How do you ensure that employees stay hydrated and what are signs of dehydration?
Risk factors-Alcohol and caffeine dehydrates
Symptoms-dizziness, dry mouth, dark urine, clammy skin, heat cramps.
Hydration-Drink 16-32oz of water per hour.
What are the evacuation processes?
Evacuate during man-made disasters.
Emergency Evacuation plan in my area is posted by the stairs near the silver belt.
Assemble at Area H for baggers, Area L for debaggers.
Shelter in place during natural disasters and notified by word of mouth.
What should you do if a package is generating smoke, fumes, leaking, wet, or is otherwise irritating?
Don’t touch, secure my area by directing my employees away and keeping them out, and notifying designated first responder.
Define egress and demonstrate how you resolve egress related issues in your work area?
Egress is a clear path to the exit, through the exit, and away from the adverse situation. Picking up a package from the floor is one way to keep egress clear.
