Superficial Posterior Thoraco-Appendicular Muscles Flashcards
Where does the trapezius muscle insert?
Lateral 3rd of the clavicle, acromion and spine of scapula
What is the origin for the trapezius muscle?
Medial 3rd of the superior nuchal line, nuchal ligament, EOP, spinous processes of C7-T12
Which nerves innervate the trapezius?
Spinal Accessory Nerve; CN-XI - motor fibers
C3 & C4 Spinal Nerves - Pain & Proprioceptive Fibers
What are the main actions of the trapezius?
Descending Superior Fibers - Elevates scapula
Ascending Inferior Fibers - Depresses scapula
Middle part - Retracts Scapula
Descending & Ascending parts act together in order to rotate the glenoid cavity superiorly.

Where does the Latissimus Dorsi insert?
Floor of the inter-tubercular sulcus of the humerus
Which nerve innervates the Latissimus Dorsi?
Thoraco-dorsal nerve (C6, C7, C8)
What actions do the Latissimus Dorsi perform?
Extends, adducts and medially rotates the shoulder joint; raises body toward arms while climbing. (Doing chin-ups)
