Superficial Muscles of the Back Flashcards
Attachments of the Trapezius
Medial: nuchal line, external occipital protuberance, ligamentum nuchae, spinal proceses C7-T12
Lateral: lateral 1/3 of the clavicle and acromion, and spine of scapula
what is the torque of the Trapezius
- rotates scapula to tilt the glenoid cavity superiorly
- elevates, retracts, and depresses scapula
what innervates the Trapezius
spinal accessory nerve
what are the attachments of the latissimus dorsi
medial: spinous process T7-L5, thoracolumbar fasica, sacrum, iliac crest, ribs 10-12
Lateral: intertubercular sulcus of the humerus
what is the torque of the Latissimus Dorsi
extends, adducts, and medially rotates the humerus
what innervates the Latissimus Dorsi
Thoracodorsal Nerve (middle subscapular nerve)
what are the attachments of the Levator Scapulae
Medial: transverse process C1-C4
Lateral: superior angle of scapula
what is the torque of the Levator Scapulae
- elevates shoulder
- lateral flexion to same side
what are the attachments of the Rhomboid Major
Medial: spinous process T2-T5
Lateral: medial boarder of scapula below spine
what is the torque of the Rhomboid Major
adduction/retraction of scapula
what innervates the Levator Scapulae
Dorsal Scapular Nerve
What innervates the Rhomboid Major
Dorsal Scapular Nerve
what innervates the Rhomboid Minor
Dorsal Scapular Nerve
what are the attachments of the Rhomboid Minor
Medial: Ligamentum nuchae and spinal processes C7-T1
Lateral: medial boarder of scapula at spine
what is the torque of the Rhomboid Minor
retracts and downwardly rotates the scapula to tilt the glenoid cavity inferiorly
