Superficial Muscles Flashcards
General Origin and Insertion of Superficial back muscles?
Origin: Axial Skeleton
Insertion: Pectoral Girdle, Humerus (primarily serve upper limb)
Trapezius: Origin and Insertion
Origin: Superior Nuchal line, External Occipital Protuberance, Ligamentum Nuchae, Spinous Processes of C7-T12
Insertion: (Uppermost Fibers) Lateral Third of clavicle, Acromion Process, Spine of the Scapula
(Middle and Lower Fibers) Medial End of Scapula Spine
Trapezius: Functions of Fibers
Upper: Elevate Shoulder
Middle: Retract shoulders
Upper + Lower: Rotate scapula (abduction of arm)
Trapezius: Point of Action
On te shoulder but not the joint (does not cross joint)
Trapezius: Innervation
Accessory Nerve Cn11/XI, c3 and C4 nerves
Trapezius: Principal Blood Supply
Transverse or Superficial Cervical Arteries
Latissumus Dorsi
Lat Dors: Origin and Insertion
Origin (Principal): Spinous Processes of Tv7 down to back of the sacrum, from the crest of the ilium and from the lower ribs
Origin (Lumbar): Posterior lamella of the thoracolumbar Fascia, also fused to the tendon of the erector spinae muscles
Insertion: Tendon that inserts on the lesser tubercular ridge and intertubercular sulcus of the humerus
Lat Dors: Actions
Extends adducts and medially rotates the Humerus
Lat Dors: Point of Action
Acts on shoulder Joint (corsses joint)
Lat Dors: Innervation
Thoracodorsal nerve
Lat Dors: Primary Blood Supply
Thoracodorsal Vessels
Levator Scapulae Muscle
Lev Scap: Origin and Insertion
Origin: Transverse Processes of the upper 4 cervical vertebrae
Insertion: Vertebral Border of the scapula above the spine
