Superficial Fascia and Skin Flashcards
What are the 7 dermatomes and their associated nerves?
C4, C5, C6, C7, C8, T1, T2
What do Dermatomes C4-7 cover?
C4- On Shoulder
C5- Lateral/radial side of arm
C6- Lateral.radial side of forearm
C7- Middle 3 fingers
What do dermatomes C8-T2 cover?
C8- Medial/ulnar side of hand and forearm
T1- Medial/ulnar side of forearm and arm
T2- Ulnar side of arm and axillary floor
Where on the limb are the cutaneous nerves located?
Medial, lateral, and dorsal side of upper limb
What are the nerves of the medial side of the upper limb?
Medial brachail cutaneous nerve joined by intercostobrachial nerve
Medial antebrachial cutaneous nerve
What are the nerves of the lateral side of the upper limb?
Upper lateral cutaneous nerve of arm (branch of axillary nerve)
Lower lateral cutaneous nerve of arm (branch of radial nerve)
Lateral antebrachial cutaneous nerve (cont of musculocutaneous nerve)
What are the nerves of the dorsal side of the upper limb?
Posterior cutaneous nerve of arm (Radial nerve)
Dorsal cutaneousnerve of forearm (Radial Nerve)
What are the superficial veins?
Cephalic vein
Basilic Vein
Median Cubital Vein
What is the pathway of the cephalic vein?
Dorsum of hand on lateral side –> To forearm antero -lateral elbow–> Deltopec triangle –>Pierces clavipectoral fascia –> Join Axillary Vein
What is the pathway of the basilic vein?
Medial dorsum of hand –> Ascends to antero-medial side of elbow –> Pierces deep fascia –> Joins brachial vein –> Forms axillary vein
Medial Cubital Vein: Location
In front of the elbow
What does the medial cubital vein connect?
Basilic and cephalic veins
What does the bicipital aponeurosis do in relation to the medial cubital vein?
Separates it from the brachial artery and median nerve
What is common about the pathways of lymph in the upper arm?
Tend to follow venous drainage
Where are the cubital (epitrochelar) nodes located?
Above medial epicondyle of humerus
What do axillary nodes do?
Filter all lymph from upper limb
