Origin: External Occipital Protuberance, Ligamentum Nuchae, Spines of C7-T12
Insertion: Lateral 1/3 Clavicle, Acromion and spine of Scapula
Action: Elevates and depresses shoulder; retracts scapula; extends head
Nerve: Accessory Nerve (Cranial XI)
Latissimus Dorsi
Origin: Spines of T6-T12, Thoracolumbar Fascia, Iliac Crest
Insertion: Intertubercular groove
Action: Adducts extends, and medially rotates arm
Nerve: Thoracodorsal Nerve
Levator Scapulae
Origin: Transverse Processes of C1-C4
Insertion: Superior angle and medial border of Scapula
Action: Elevates and adducts scapula
Nerve: Dorsal Scapular Nerve
Rhomboid Minor
Origin: Spines of C7, T1
Insertion: Medial border of Scapula
Action: Elevates and adducts scapula
Nerve: Dorsal Scapular Nerve
Rhomboid Major
Origin: Spines of T2-T5
Insertion: Medial border to inferior angle of scapula
Action: Elevates and Adducts scapula
Nerve: Dorsal Scapular Nerve
