Superficial (appendicular) Back Muscles Flashcards
Origin of trapezius
- superior nuchal line
- external occipital protuberance
- ligamentum nuchae
- Spinous process C7-T12
Insertion of trapezius
- spine of scapula
- acromion
- lateral 1/3 of clavicle
What are the parts of the trapezius
- descending part
- transverse part
- ascending part
Origin and insertion of descending trapezius
O: occipital protuberance, sup. nuchal line, C7 spinous process
I: lat. 1/3 clavicle, acromion
Origin and insertion of transverse trapezius
O: C7-T4 spinous process
I: acromion, medial half of spine of scapula
Origin and insertion of ascending trapezius
O: T5-T12 spinous process
I: Spine of scapula
What innervates the trapezius
- accessory nerviest (CN 11)
- C3/C4
Origin of latissimus dorsi
- T7-L5 spinous process (& sacrum)
- iliac crest
- ribs 10-12
What is the insertion of latissimus dorsi?
- floor of intertubercular sulcus of humerus
What innervates the latissimus dorsi?
- Thoracodorsal nerve (C6,7,8)
What supplies the latissimus dorsi?
- Thoracodorsal artery (main)
- small branches from dorsal (post.) branches of posterior intercostal & lumbar arteries
What supplies the trapezius?
- superficial branch of transverse cervical artery
- acromial branch of suprascapular artery
- dorsal branches of posterior intercostal artery
[3 PARTS = 3 SUPPLIES]
What is the origin of levator scapulae?
- C1-C4 transverse process
What is the insertion of levator scapulae?
- medial border of scapula / superior to spine
What innervates the levator scapulae?
- C3-C4
- dorsal scapular nerve (C4-C5)
