superelevation Flashcards
what is the purpose of superelevation?
the embankment in the road to assist vehicles travelling through a hz curve at design speed
what are the different points?
also Lrc, length to reverse crown, from the level crown to the reverse crown
what is the tangent runout
the length along the tangent (before the TS) required to remove the crossfall of 1/2 the road width.
what is the method used to determine the length of the tangent runout?
according to method #1 (TAC), runout is applied at a rate of 1:400 (i.e. tangent runout length is 400H)
dif axis’ of ratation
the width to rotate, w
‘w’ refers to half the road width, at base of the road, from the median to the pavement edge (not shoulder)
superelevation development
‘left’ and ‘right’ convention
facing higher chainage
