Q

Pretend you are on a tour: what would you say to a family about the nationality rooms in the Cathedral of Learning and what room would you show them?

A

Building of the Cathedral of Learning was started in 1926 during the growth and success of the roaring twenties. However, during the Great Depression the university ran low on funding for the building. To finish the building, the university reached out to ethnic groups in the community and promised to create a classroom in the style of that culture in 1787 in exchange of funding. These rooms, currently numbering 29, were the result of this promise and except for 2 are in use. One of those not in use is the Syrian-Lebanon Room which you see here.
