When half staff: close up smartly and completely then lower to half staff ceremoniously; when hauling down: close up smartly the haul down ceremoniously

• if ensign if half staff do is Union Jack!
• sundays/holidays: holiday ensign is flown(big flag)

Ensign : after closing up, hold lines and salute until 3 whistles then tie flag.

Jack: raise flag hold line, about face, and salute ensign until 3 whistles, then tie off lines

For hauling down: flags should reach bottom of flag pole at the same time taps is completed
