Involuntary Commitment
We can have someone involuntary committed for up to 72 hrs, if we deem them to be in imminent danger of harm to self or harm to someone else, and you have compelling evidence.

Social Contagion
Increased after high profile suicide, rates of suicides and attempted suicide increase after high profile suicide for about a month. Single vehicle accidents go up also, as well as gun accidents.

people who hurt themselves but are not trying to kill themselves. self harm behavior, most cases not looking for attention, looking for a release, triggers endorphins and endocanabanoides (body’s natural opiates). inadvertent way that people stumble onto to numb pain, is very dangerous and addictive. physical pain circuitry cross wired with emotional circuitry
