Suger Anatomy Flashcards
What are the divisions of the renal artery to the afferent arteriole
Renal artery- interlobAr- arcuate- interlobular- afferent arteriole
origin and insertion of inguinal ligament
origin= ASIS insertion= pubic tubercle
contents of inguinal canal in a man and a woman?
man= spermatic cord woman= round ligament both= ilio-inguinal nerve
the spermatic cord runs from the deep inguinal ring to the superficial ring
$facts4days$
what are the 3 layers of the spermatic cord and what are the layers derived from
internal spermatic fascia= transversalis fascia
cremasteric fascia= internal oblique
external spermatic fascia= external oblique
BIGGY what are contents of the spermatic cord?
hint 3,3,3,3 rule
3 arteries= artery of the vas, cremasteric, testicular
3 veins= same as arteries
3 nerves= ilio-inguinal, sympathetic, genitofemoral
3 others= vas deferens, tunica vaginalis, lymphatics
what are testes covered by?
they are covered by the same three layers of spermatic fascia that cover the spermatic cord. The testes are also partially surrounded by a sac derived from the peritoneum called the tunica vaginalis.
what do the 3 nerves of the spermatic cord innervate
ilio-inguinal= anterior 1/3 of external genitalia genitofemoral= cremaster muscle sympathetic= vas and testicular pain
what happens when the inside of a males thigh is tickled
their testes retract upwards due to the cremaster muscle. lol.
how would you describe the scrotum and what are its contents.
scrotum is a pendulous pouch of skin containing the testes, epididymis and lower part of the spermatic cord. the skin is thin, darkly pigmented and wrinkly. Ew
what are the 3 cylinders of erectile tissue in the penis called
2 corpus cavernosa- fill with blood, vital for an erection
1 corpus spongiosum- surrounds urethra and forms expanded bulb of the penis.
what muscles are the tissues covered by?
corpus cavernosa covered by ischiocavernosus muscle
corpus spongiosum covered by bulbospongiosus musvle
what are the kidneys covered by/ embedded in
perinephric fat
what is the shape of the right adrenal gland
tetrahedral
what is the shape of the left adrenal gland
crescent shaped
the adrenal glands have 3 arteries and 1 vein. what are the names of them
superior middle and inferior arteries
adrenal vein EASY FELLAS
the 3 adrenal arteries arise from different arteries. what are these
superior adrenal= arises from inferior phrenic
middle adrenal= arises from abdominal aorta
inferior adrenal= arises from renal arteries
the venous drainage of the adrenals, kidneys and gonads are different for the different sides of the body. what are these differences?
on the right the veins drain directly into the IVC.
on the left the adrenal drains into the renal vein superiorly and inferiorly the gonadal the vein drains into the renal. the renal vein then passes into the IVC.
which is more on the right hand side of the body the aorta or IVC
IVC
fire me off the retroperitoneal organs
Suprarenal glands Aorta/IVC Duodenum except cap Pancreas except tail Ureters Colon (ascen/descen) Kidneys oEsophagus Rectum
at what level does the aorta bifurcate into the common iliac arteries
L4
what level is the transpyloric plane
L1
at what level is the subcostal plane
L2
superior mesenteric comes off aorta at what level
L1
inferior mesenteric comes off aorta at what level
L3
what spinal levels are the kidneys located between
T12-L3
there are 3 arcuate ligaments of the diaphragm. what are they called and where do they attach
median= aorta medial= psoas lateral= quadratus lumborum
a direct hernia is medial or lateral to the inferior epigastric artery?
medial
an indirect hernia is medial or lateral to the inferior epigastric artery?
lateral
the route that sperm takes can be remembered by the pneumonic SREEVEN UP. what is this route
Seminiferous tubules Rete testes Efferent ductules Epididymis Vas deferens Ejaculatory duct Nothing (makes it sound better than SREEVE UP) Urethra Penile Urethra
what is the attachement of the psoas and iliacus muscles
the fibres combine to form the iliopsoas and they attach to the lesser trochanter of the femur
what is the innervation of the PSOAS
anterior rami L1-L3
what is the innervation of the iliacus
femoral nerve
what runs in the groove between the iliacus and the psoas
femoral nerve
the bladder internally has two types of mucosa. what are the two types
trigone and rugose mucosa. trigone mucosa is smooth and it links the 2 ureteric orifices to the internal urethral orifice. between the orifices is a ridge of muscle called the interureteric bar
when we say water under the bridge what is this referring to
the ureter runs under the uterine artery
what is the name of the male pouch
recto-vesical pouch
what are the names of the female pouches
utero-vesical pouch (anterior to uterus)
recto-uterine pouch, also known as the pouch of Douglas. (posterior to uterus)
our lad doug, great lad
what does ante-verted mean
slightly rotated anterioly
what does ante-flexed mean
bent anteriorly
what does retro-verted mean
rotated slightly posterioly
what does retro-flexed mean
bent posterioly
the uterus is normally ante-verted
dunno why sorry
3 divisions of the uterus
fundus,body,cervix
5 ligaments of the uterus are???
broad, round, ovarian, cardinal, uterosacral
what is the broad ligament
double peritoneal folds from the uterus to pelvis. mesentery for the uterus
what is the round ligament
it is a remnant of the gubernaculum. joins the uterine horns to the labia majora
what does the ovarian ligament join
joins ovaries to the uterus
what does the cardinal ligament join
joins the cervix to the lateral pelvic walls.
what does the cardinal ligament contain
it contains the uterine artery and vein
divisions of the fallopian/ uterine tubes??
narrow isthmus, dilated ampulla, funnel shaped infundibulum
what are the finger like projections of the funnel infundibulum called and what do they do
fimbrae drape over the ovary and they aim to catch the expelled egg
name the parts of the vulva
clitoris, bartholins glands, vestibule, labia minora and labia majora, mons pubis
what do bartholins glands do?
they secrete lubricating mucous during sexual arousal. Stunning
the clitoris and penis are both derived from the genital tubercle
who’d of thought
what male structures are derived from the mesonephric duct
SEED
seminal vesicles, epididymis, ejaculatory duct, ductus deferens (same as vas deferens)
the vas deferens and seminal vesicles join to form what???
ejaculatory duct. badoosh
