  • Eng SHALL NOT connect to hydrant until the fire is located. Most direct means to the fire will be determined before a line is stretched

Locations of EED?
- at underground and grade level stations EED will be located at 1st blue light south of the southbound platform, typically within 50' of platform end - at elevated stations EED will be located in area of full time token booth - An EED is located at base of emergency exit at both ends of under river tunnel - Keys to remove EED are located at every token booth

Uses for EED?
1) . Against train for people to step down to roadbed ***(members must be positioned at both top and bottom 2) . Roadside to platform 3) . Flat side up to go from car to car * **(members positioned in each car)

AirTrain system
- Fully automated system, operates UNMANNED, but has controls which can be operated manually onboard by air train personnel if needed - NO cameras on trains or along guideway - Moving train cannot detect persons or objects - (10) stations, (6) in central terminal, ALL fully enclosed - ALL stations have smoke detectors, heat detectors, and sprinklers - Emergency telephone on each platform which provides dict line to air train operations center - Blue light power removal at each end of platform - Inside power removal box is a RED power removal button, which when depressed removes power to both inbound and outbound tracks for at least the length of the station and a schematic showing tracks that have been de-energized

Is power removal required - Airtrain powered by 3rd rail (750) Volts DC - Grounding straps MUST be in place on each side of operation before members commit to guideway. Imminent life hazard is only exception - members MUST NOT operate beyond grounding straps - At least (1) TL MUST be assigned to ALL Airtrain incidents

What is PRIMARY means of accessing guideway?
Shall be via nearest overpass, placing apparatus along highway for access will ALWAYS require COMPLETE CLOSURE of roadway. Units shall request immediate PD response

What does the NYC repeater system consist of?
- (1) antenna at each station - coax cable - repeaters - amplifiers Ch 14 and 15 (5 Watts) - on 24/7 and has minimum of (4) hrs of back up power in case of power outage - any member operating on repeater ch must be paired with a member on ch 1

What is done if a Dead Spot is encountered on repeater CH?
Return to safe location where Comm was successful prior, retransmit and report dead spot or report repeater failure via CH 1 **Core relay still established for as far as needed. Once repeater tested IC may use CH 14 as tactical

- Raise to 45 degree angle to connect - one wheel has RED SQUARE painted on surface, this is location of wheel lock - (2) rail carts can be connected using cone for plate - Wheel lock MUST be used when cart left unattended.
