A

2/11 w/in past year:
- EXCESS USE:
- Using in larger amounts / longer period
of time than intended
- Excess time to obtain/use/recover from
substance
- Tolerance

  • PROBLEMATIC USE:
    • Functional impairment in social domain
      (failure to fulfill major role obligations at
      work/school/home)
    • Giving up social activities
    • Persistent use despite social functional
      impairment
    • Persistent use despite physical/mental
      health problems
    • Use in physically hazardous conditions
      (e.g. drunk driving)
  • PROBLEMS QUITTING:
    • Persistent desire / repeated failures to
      cut down
    • Withdrawal symptoms
    • Cravings
