What is a Subject?
The subject of a sentence is who or what the sentence is about. It performs the action of the verb.
Define Simple Subject.
Just the main noun or pronoun.
Provide an example of a Simple Subject.
The cat sat on the mat.
Define Complete Subject.
Includes the simple subject and all the words related to it.
Provide an example of a Complete Subject.
The fluffy white cat sat on the mat.
Define Compound Subject.
Two or more subjects joined by a conjunction (like ‘and’ or ‘or’).

The cat and the dog played in the yard.
What is a Predicate?
The predicate tells what the subject does or is. It contains the verb and all the words related to it.
Define Simple Predicate.
Just the verb.
Provide an example of a Simple Predicate.
The cat sat.
Define Complete Predicate.
Includes the verb and all the words that modify or complete it.
Provide an example of a Complete Predicate.
The cat sat on the mat near the window.
Define Compound Predicate.
Two or more predicates joined by a conjunction.
