Subclavian & Vertebral Artery Flashcards
Muscle dividing Subclavian artery into 3 parts is
Scalenus anterior muscle
Branches of the 1st part of Subclavian Artery
V - Vertebral Artery
I - Internal Thoracic Artery
T - Thyrocervical Trunk
Branches from the Thyrocervical Trunk
S - Suprascapular artery ~ passes above the Foramen
I - Inferior Thyroid Artery
T - Transverse Cervical Artery
Transverse Cervical Artery Branches →
Superficial and Deep Branches
The only structure passing through Suprascapular Foramen is
Suprascapular Nerve
In most the cases Deep branch of the Transverse Cervical Artery replaces
Dorsal Scapular artery; which is branch of 3rd part of Subclavian artery
Branch of 2nd part of Subclavian artery
Costocervical Trunk
Branch from 3rd part of Subclavian artery
Dorsal Scapular Artery
Stellate Ganglion formed by
Its located at the level of;
Inferior Cervical Ganglion + 1st Thoracic Ganglion
C7 vertebra
Why Ganglion block at the level of C7 is Contraindicated
Due to increased risk of damage to cervical part of vertebral artery;
As cervical part of vertebral artery is closely related to Stellate Gamglion
2nd part of Vertebral artery enters
Foramen transversarium of C6 vertebra
And ascends upto C1 vertebra
Landmark for C6 Vertebra
Chassaignac Tubercle
Stellate ganglion block → can be approached through C6 Vertebra
3rd part of Vertebral Artery is content of
SubOccipital Triangle
