Stye, Chalazion, Dacroadenitis and Dacrocystitis
A
- Styes are tender to palpation whereas chalazia are not
- Stye tend to be located around eyelash follicles
- Dacryoadenitis and dacryocystitis present in lacrimal locations

Stye Pathophysiology, AKA
A
- AKA hordeolum
- Meibomian glands or glands of Zeis and Moll
- Staph aureus is most common cause

Chalazion pathophysiology
A
- Chalazia are not infective and inflammatory
- Foreign body reaction to sebum

Stye Management
A
- Topical bacitracin or erythromycin
- Warm compress and massage
- Oral antibiotic therapy if significant cellulitis
- Refer if vision is distorted

Chalazion Management
A
- Warm compress, massage, lid hygiene
- Refer if recurrent or refractory
