A person needs certain expertise and skills as well as passion to solve problems creatively in other words intrinsic motivation

1 knowledge and expertise. To be able to solve problems in a unique way not only need certain skills but also knowledge which encompasses everything a person knows and can do in the broad domain of hsbor her work

2 motivation. Determines what people are willing to do and how likely they are preserve through problems and obstacles

3 affective. To be you need certain affective skills such as risk taking courage and yolerance for ambiguity

4 cognitive. In situations where people are attempting to solve ill-defined problems which cannot be solved through (routine use of) existing knowledge one needs complex level of thinking

Cognitive thinking skills

  1. Diagnostic thinking. It enables you to analyze the challenges/ situations and decide ona process to be followed
  2. Visionary thinking. It gives a clear image of what you want to create or want to achieve in the future looking at how things might be instead od how they currently are or seeing things in different ways
  3. Strategic thinking. It anabkes you yo identify critical issues that must be addressed to mobe toward the desired future
  4. Evaluation thinking. It has to do with assessing the quality od ideas in order yo develop workable solutions
  5. Contextual thinking. This thinking helps you to understand the interrelated conditions ad circumstances that will support or hinder success
  6. Tactical thinking. It is used to develop a plan that includes measures and steps for attaining a esired end and methods for monitoring its effectiveness
  7. Creative thinking. It is the capacity to put existing ideas together in new combinations when approaching problems and solutions . 4 creative thinking skills
  8. Fluency. Refers to the ability to generate many ideas solutions or alternative options
  9. Flexibility. The bility yo process ideas or objects in different ways when exposed to the same stimuli
  10. Elaborate. The ability to add detail and depth
  11. Originality. To come up with something that mo one has yet thought of

1. Change their attitude towards creativity as well as their problem solving behaviour
2. Are more likely to define the problem before selecting a solution
3. Develop a better ability to generate more original solutions to problems

A

Creativity does not develop in a vacuum it occurs in a particular environment context or workplace. Most mangers agree that creativity is important to their long term survival yet most also don’t really know how to go about fostering it

For the development of creativity in a business the following is important

  1. Business culture. Is defined as the deepest level of basic values assumptions and beliefs which refer to the WY things are done in the business the environment in which employees find themselves how motivated the higher levels if management are to take risks and whether they prefer to maintain the status quo. It implies a sense of pride and enthusiasm about what can be achieved support for ne ideas open communication channels and reward and recognition for creativity work
  2. Business climate. Climate refers to the here and now and what it feels like to work in the business
  3. Resources and competence. Business creativity depends essentially on the intellectual capital of the business its human resources
  4. Leadership styles. A democratic participative leadership style is conducive to creativity while a more autocratic style will hamper it
    5 Structurs and systems. Creativity is truly enhanced when all manahmgers as well non managerial employees upport it. Applicable systems and procedures should exist which emphasize that creais a high priority
