Do you know why we have a leap year on Earth?
Because each year is actually 365 1/4 days long, so every four years we have to make up for the lost day.
Do you know the characteristics of a planet? (there are three of them)
An object that orbits one or more stars; is spherical under its own gravity; does not share its orbit with another object
Do you know the phases of our moon?
new moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, third quarter and waning crescent (good luck memorizing this)
Do you know all the planets in our solar system?
Use a mnemonic!
Here’s one: My (Mercury) Very (Venus) Excellent (Earth) Mom (Mars) Just (Jupiter) Served (Saturn) Us (Uranus) Noodles (Neptune)

Do you know the difference between a solar and lunar eclipse?
Solar is sun blocked, lunar is moon blocked.
Solar = Sun, Moon, Earth
Lunar = Sun, Earth, Moon
Do you know what makes a comet different from an asteroid?
What they are made of. Asteroids are made up of metals and rocky material, while comets are made up of ice, dust and rocky material.
Do you know what causes the tides on Earth?
The tides are caused by the gravitational forces of the Moon pulling on the Earth.
The water bulges out on the side closest to and farthest from the Moon.
Do you know why we have seasons?
We have seasons due to the tilt of the Earth. When we face the sun, it’s summer, and when we face away, it’s winter.
Do you know where most comets come from?
The Oort Cloud
Do you know the difference between a meteoroid, meteor and meteorite?
A meteoroid is still in space, a meteor is in a planet’s atmosphere but it completely burns up in the atmosphere, and a meteorite hits the ground.
