Q
What is Buoyancy?
A
Buoyancy is the action of an object in a fluid to rise or sink due to the surrounding density differences. Objects rise in a fluid when their density is less than that of the fluid, causing the buoyant force to exceed gravity. Conversely, objects sink when their density is greater than the fluid’s, resulting in a lesser buoyant force than gravity. If an object’s density matches the fluid’s, it floats, with buoyant force equaling gravity. An example of buoyancy is when a boat floats on the surface of the water. The weight of the boat is supported by the buoyant force exerted by the water, which is equal to the weight of the water displaced by the boat.
