What Are Studs
Studs are vertical supports that form the skeleton of the wall and are usually placed at 16” on centre
how far apart are studs placed from each other
Studs are placed every 16 inches to the centre from the outside of the wall so that the edge of the plywood will join in the middle of a stud.
How many types of wall studs are there
common studs, king studs, trimmer studs, or cripple studs.
what are common studs
studs that run from the bottom plate to the top plate and are usually placed at 16”
what are king studs
placed on each side of a framed opening, such as a door or window. It is the same length as the common studs in the wall and fastened in a similar manner.
what are trimmer studs
run from the bottom plate up under the header without the interruption of the window sill.
what are cripple studs
short studs installed above a header or below a window sill.
