Q

theory against lof

A

Equopotentiality

Principle of mass action - memory ability is distributed in the whole brain and the lack of it is proportional to the brain that is injured.

Relative localisation - weak localisaiton. Several areas responsible for a function but with a dominant one.

Q

Neural networks

A

when a function is repeated, a group of neurons will form an interconnection by synapses in order to carry it out.

10
Q

Neural prunning

A

opposite. When a function is no longer carried out, extra neurons and synaptic connections will be eliminated.

12
Q

5-HTT

A

seretonin transporter gene, involved in the reuptake of seretonin in the synapse.

5HTT theory states that in a stressful environment , the gene will be expressed, leading to depression.

16
Q

Argument for hormones

A

coordinate physiology and behaviour of individuals by regulating, integrating and controlling bodily functions (such as mood and metabolsim).

17
Q

Pheromones studies

A

Zhout et al 2014

Harot et al 2017

18
Q

AND

A

androstadienone - steroid found in men’s semen and sweat.

19
Q

limitations of pheromones

A

400 body odours receptors - human sense of smell is complex, each with genetic variation. We do not know what to look for.

Not all body odours made by secretion, some are bacteira mixed with secretion such as sweat. 20% do not have this.

Culture plays a big role (in perception of smell and other things).
