Student centered Flashcards
What does it mean to be student centered?
Leaders provide rough structure and learners/students fill in all of the elements
Being student centered teaches learners why
we have some sort of structure
5 structural components of games:
- Boundaries
2.Rules and Scoring
3.Equipment
4.# of players
5.Skills needed
Boundaries
Concept of personal and general space
(How can you move your body in this space? What is in the space?)
Rules and Scoring:
What are you allowed to do and not allowed to do? What are consequences for breaking rules? What rules matter when trying to score?
Lack of rules lead to
frustration and game breakdown
Equipment:
Type and quantity
(includes boundary markers, lines on floor… try encouraging various things)
of players:
How many people are needed to play
smaller groups =
more play time
Skills needed:
Games should be a place to explore and develop skills
