Stuckey chapter 6 Flashcards
olfactory nerve – cranial nerve one
– Old factory region to the midbrain
– Only uncrossed sense
– Olfactory loss can occur from sub, frontal, masses, example, tumors, abscesses, trauma particular to the orbital frontal region where nerves penetrate the crib form plate of the ethmoid, and viral infections, due to damage to the olfactory neural epithelium
optic nerve – cranial nerve 2
– The optic nerve projects from the retina to the midbrain

Oculomotor nerve – cranial nerve three
– The oculomotor nerve originates from the mid brain and projects to all extraocular muscles except the oblique and lateral rectus muscles
– It’s responsible for eye movements immediately (abduction, ), superiorly, and inferiorly
– Functions include pupil, constriction, due to parasympathetic fibers to the pupillary constrictor muscles,
– Compression of cranial nerve three from aneurysms. Her uncle herniation can result in a fixed and dilated pupil “blown pupil “
Dash significant pupillary constriction “pinpoint pupil “can suggest Pontine involvement or drug overdose, example, morphine
