aka “The white of the eye”. Maintains the shape of the eye and protects the inner layer tissues of the eye.
Sclera
A “snail-shaped” structure of the inner ear where sound vibrations are converted into nerve impulses
Cochlea
aka “Auditory tubes”. Equalize the air pressure within the middle ear with that of the outside atmosphere. Leads from the middle ear to the nasal cavity of the throat.
Eustachian Tubes
The small hairs which make up the eyelashes and eyebrows.
Cilia
aka “eardrum”. This membrane transmits the sound by vibrating. Lies between the outer ear and middle ear.
Tympanic Membrane
The colourful circular structure that surrounds the pupil of the eye. Controls the amount of light allowed to enter through the pupil.
Iris
aka “the hammer”. One of the auditory ossicles. Together with the other auditory ossicles, it transmits sound waves from the eardrum to the inner ear by vibration
