Structure and Function in Living Organisms Flashcards
What are cells?
Units that make up a living organism.
Cells make tissues.
Cells have structures that are specialised so that they can carry out their function.
What is a tissue made up of?
A group of cells with a similar structure and function.
What is an organ made up of?
Made up of tissues- often different tissues.
Organs have a particular job to do e.g. the heart circulates the blood.
What is an organ system?
Groups of organs working together that carry out a particular function, e.g. digestive system.
What are the levels of organisation ? ( in order )
- Organelle
- Cell
- Tissue
- Organ
- Organ Systems
Give 3 examples of organelles.
mitochondria
nucleus
chloroplast

What are cells made up of?
Organelles
What are organ systems made up of?
Groups of organs.
Put these in order (smallest to biggest)

How many organ systems make up the main plant organs that allow life processes to take place?
4
- flower (reproduction, move)
- stem (nutrition, excretion, growth)
- leaves (nutrition, excretion)
- roots (nutrition)
All parts are sensitive to the surroundings, every cell respires.
