Extended Metaphor
Refers to a comparison between two unlike things
Cliffhanger
Concludes suddenly or with a thrilling plot twist
1st Person
The narrator speaking about themself
2nd Person
The narrator speaking to someone else (or you)
3rd Person
The narrator speaking about someone else
New Character
The introduction to a previously unmentioned character
Interior Monologue
The thoughts passing through the protagonist(s)’s mind(s)
Medias Res
Starting in the middle of the action
Anaphora
Use of a word to refer back to a word used earlier in the text
Third-Person Subjective
(Over The Shoulder) Narrator
A narrator that only describes events how the protagonist percieves them.
