structural oragnisation Flashcards
levels of the body
chemical, cellular, tissue, organ, system, organismic
chemical level
made up of atoms or our building blocks and atoms of elements combine to build the main molecules needed for life - which then form cells
what are the atoms/elements needed for life
CARBON OXYGEN HYDROGEN
the molecules needed for the body
Protein, lipids, carbohydrates
what is the cellular level
cells all have different functions depending on what they need to carry out - nerve cells, blood cells, digestive cells etc groups of a specific cell then group to make tissues
tissues
a group of one specialised type of cell go together to make a tissue which will perform a specific function!
organ level
tissues combine to make an organ which has a specific function hence why tissues are made of one specialised cell
system level
composed of related organs to carry out one system eg the digestive system breaks down food into waste and useful components. done by the liver, stomach, pancreas and intestines
organism level
systems combine to create a living organism!
