16
Q

Habituation

A

-Diminishing Physical or Emotional Response
-After Repeated Exposure

17
Q

Desensitization

A

-Delibrate habituation
-Therapy
Biofeedback
Visualization
Meditation

18
Q

Endorphins

A

any of a group of hormones secreted within the brain and nervous system and having a number of physiological functions. They are peptides which activate the body’s opiate receptors, causing an analgesic effect.

Natural painkillers, mood boosters, activate opiate receptors.

19
Q

Enkephalins

A

either of two compounds that occur naturally in the brain. They are peptides related to the endorphins, with similar physiological effects.

20
Q

Glucocorticoids

A

-are a type of corticosteroid hormone that is very effective at reducing inflammation and suppressing the immune system. Inflammation is the way our immune system responds to harmful substances and trauma and is part of our healing process.
-Released from the adrenal cortex during stress.
