What are examples of Alpha Hemolytic and Beta Hemolytic Streptococcus and types of infections they can cause:

Alpha Hemolytic
- Strep pneumoniae
- Strep viridans –> oral commensals
Beta Hemolytic
- Group A (streptococcus pyogenes) –> perianal dermatitis, toxic shock syndrome (uncommon), necrotising fasciitis,
- Group B streptococcus –> lives in gut & vagina usually harmless

A
2,4,6 months
booster @ 12-18months for ATSI population
Adults >65 yrs
Adults >50 yrs if ATSI
ATSI 15-50yrs with a chronic disease or high risk of step pneumoniae infections
