Strength Test (stabiliser) Flashcards

1
Q

What is the key thing to remember when strength testing stabilisers

Q

Aim of the strength testing stabilises

A

Evaluate motor skill of involved muscle to contract in isolation
= Gradual subminimal contract (tonic )can be maintained

Q

Name and discuss the first two steps in strength testing stabilisers

A

1) isolate:
Illicit slow low-level 5 to 20% muscle act
Eliminate unwonted muscle activity

2) Test endurance:
Hold it there for 10 to 15 seconds
Observe unwonted movement
I tonic activity/movement of body

Q

Name and discuss the last two steps of strength testing stabilisers

A

3) Add load without moving underlying joint
Do this without recruiting mover fibres
I.e. do not push against muscle you testing
Do you have this by: moving limb away from muscle being tested

4) Move underline joint:
Maintain stability of joint in one plane while movement occurs in another

Q

What is not a measure of first stabilising function
