Stratification
Refers to the unequal distribution among nations. This distribution refers to the distribution of wealth, prestige, power, and influence
Global stratification
The classification that differentiates poor and rich people

It is the area in the hierarchy where industrialized and rich countries are located
1st world countries
The area in the hierarchy where developing countries are located
3rd world countries
High income countries are those with GNI above 12,500$ GNI per year
High income countries
Standards of living in this countries are higher than the rest of the world

In global stratification there are two dimensions
- The gap between the nations
- The gap within the nation
Measures the total output of the country
Gross domestic product
Measures the value of goods and services produced by a country’s citizen, both domestically and abroad
GROSS NATIONAL PRODUCT
These are the countries with 12,000$ GNI per year
Upper middle income countries
These are the countries with 1,000 - 4,000$ GNI per year
Low middle income countries
These are the countries with less than 1,000$ GNI per year
Low income countries
This area is high in populations with high density of infrastructure
Urban
Refers to the economic control or exploitation by corporations
