The lacks of breathing space the poem gives you reflects the overwhelming situation the speaker finds themselves in
the poem contains ………
enjambment. create a constant load of information which reflects the constant storm
Why does Heaney use everyday language?
reflects that this is everyday life for him
“exploding……
“exploding comfortably” oxymoron/ reflect how the speaker makes sense of the conflict and how he is used to the conflicted contrasting way of life
“We are bombarded…”
“we are bombarded by the empty air. Strange, it is a huge nothing we fear” ‘air’ and ‘fear’ are half rhyme. wild storm refuses to be controlled and only half rhyme can reflect this. Rhyme occurs at start and end which creates a sense that the storm is inescapable and its just a way of life.
